Group Rules

  1. Respect the judgements and guidance of the Administrators. We are required to ensure fair play and adherence to the rules.
  2. All decisions and verdicts made by the Admin account are final. While it is one account posting the decision, it is multiple mods who have deliberated and concluded said decision.
  3. Please respect other members of the group, this includes not doing any of the following: Flaming, Racial Slurring, Sexual Harassment, Sexism and Ageism.
  4. No NSFW, we are here to Roleplay not write smut. Adult themed things may be alluded to but not be overt. This is to ensure everyone participating can be comfortable especially should we have a younger audience or younger participants amongst the group.
  5. If you have a grievance with another Role-player, we encourage trying to handle the matter between one another (maturely) before getting the Admins involved. If you cannot reasonably come to a compromise or decision amongst yourselves we will of course intervene.
  6. Do not post in multiple threads as the same character, your character can only be in one place at one time.
  7. Graphics and Techniques obtained within this group cannot and shall not be used in bios and other mediums in other groups.
  8. Keep OOC (Out of Character) out of IC (In-Character) Role-play. (do not bring personal ooc grievances with another member into rp. This is to include specifically targeting a person you do not like not because of any story purpose but specifically because you dislike them).
  9. When a combat scenario concludes, clearly state the resolution and any consequences that arise from the outcome.
  10. Respect the agreed-upon outcomes and anything that occurs in-character as it effects ongoing roleplay and character development.
  11. Recognize that this is a living world. Things may happen unexpectedly due to story, it is your job as the role-player to adapt in-character to whatever situation you may find yourself in.

This Roleplay is turn based T-1 RP, what does this mean?

It focuses on structured turn-based interactions to the needs of storytelling and the nuance or care of characterisation.
  • Characters should be characterised, and have goals and abilities and motivations and dilemmas. They ought to be 'well-balanced' – that is to say, their abilities should be commensurate with our group. (Let's not have a Naruto OC with a Zanpakuto from Bleach.), and suitable to the story’s setting and premise (It's no good creating Furries when the group is set in the same universe as Naruto & Boruto.)
  • Do not God-Mode (Manipulating other players characters who don't belong to you or your character never takes damage and unscathed from the most powerful attacks.)
  • Ensure your character’s abilities and actions are balanced and do not overshadow other characters.
  • Each player takes turns to perform actions. A turn should include a description of what your character does, their thoughts, and any interactions with the environment or other characters.
Actions should be detailed but concise enough to keep the narrative flowing.
  • Respect the turn order to ensure that all players have a chance to contribute. If a player needs extra time, communicate with the group to manage expectations.
  • Add to the story by describing what your character does, thinks and feels in detail. Add meaning to the interaction between your characters, develop the plot. Avoid actions that would dramatically alter the story without input from other players.
  • Actions can have consequences, , short-term and long-term. Make sure the action has a realistic consequence to move the plot along.
    • These can include, but are not limited to, injuries, deaths, disfigurements, embarrassments, enduring consequences, formal consequences such as punishment or retribution, and interpersonal consequences such as changes in relationships, mending or severing bonds or connections. Describe the extent and impact of your character’s overconfidence or self-serving or self-sacrificial tendencies in the face of adversity.
  • Remember to respect other role-players and the choices they make. Don’t let your character steal other people’s limelight. Don’t hog the limelight in other people’s stories, or ignore their stories altogether.
  • Address conflicts or disagreements through discussion and compromise, maintaining a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Stay in character and stay engaged. Contribute often to the story and interact with other characters to keep things lively.
    • Let the group know you will be away for a while, so that the story progression will not stutter.
  • Incorporate elements of the setting into your actions and decisions to maintain immersion.
  • Add detail to the setting, broaden the worldbuilding wherever it’s not explicit in the lore (as long as roleplayers agree).
  • Make sure that you stick to the spirit of the world of both Naruto and Boruto that we know and love – ie, that those ‘foreign elements’ you are adding conform to the rules of the world, and keep the story going.
  • Autohitting is against the rules. Autohitting is when you launch an attack and land the same attack in the same turn. You must foreshadow an attack by attempting, if the attack is still viable in your next turn, then you can land it.

As this is Turn-based Roleplay you have a strict posting order when Roleplaying in battle, meaning you can't post twice after an opponent.

No Metagaming

Metagaming is the occurrence of a role-player using knowledge outside of their character's knowledge (e.g, information they cannot possess or don't know yet.) to affect decisions they make in the story or actions they take. An example of this is your OC knowing another characters name, when your OC has never met them before.

Characters should react to and act only upon information that their characters have learned through roleplay actions, interactions, or exploration. Do not use out-of-character (OOC) knowledge to influence in-character (IC) decisions. Do not use information you know OOC to influence or dictate what your character would do/say IC.

If your OC learns something in-story, your OC should process that information according to what they know (and don’t know) as a character.

Being a good role-player is also understanding what is Metagaming and avoiding it as falling for it or committing will break the 'fourth wall' and remove your character from the world of the story. It's improper and heavily breaks an otherwise immersive roleplay environment.

Character Creation

To roleplay in Boruto: New Horizons you'll need to have an Original Character created. This has to be a Shinobi or at the very least, a character that contributes to the story. Ideally, it would be best to have an active Shinobi in this group!
  • Special weapons, also known as weapons with abilities will be heavily scrutinized as Naruto isn’t the sum of special weapons. Items and weapons of that regard are not common place and should be treated as such.
  • Jutsu will be judged in a case by case. This is to say, a genin will not be kept from certain jutsu solely because if that jutsu’s rank. As there are simplistic B-ranked jutsu, the techniques rank alone will not be cause for disapproval.
  • Jōnin ranked Shinobi can start out with three chakra natures with the exception of those possessing an advanced nature.
    • Example: Your Jōnin has Storm release. This means they will have Lightning, Water and Storm, as opposed to a shinobi who does NOT have an advanced nature. Chūnin may start with two chakra natures with the obvious exceptions of those with an advanced nature, and Genin with one (minus those with an advanced nature). The outliers of this rule will of course be those with a kekkei tora like dust release (Jōnin level only) and advanced natures like Scorch Release which no genin will have access to. One is able to of course learn another chakra nature via in-character training through story.
  • All five Kage will be npced, though it is possible for a roleplayer to become the successor in the event something transpires in story to the kage. This will of course depend on gaining recognition by the village (Mod team) via in-character feats.
  • All CURRENT Seven Swordsman are npced. If you desire to become a seven swordsman it will require you to obtain the sword from one of the current wielders. Be forewarned no means of acquisition is the same. One swordsman may take the time to train you as their successor, while another may demand you be able to kill them to take it from them. You run the risk of being potentially killed by the current wielder in your pursuit of their blade.
  • Making a shinobi from a minor nation will almost certainly place you on the side or in the territory of the Coalition (few exceptions through a select few Minor Nations who are neutral). This should be kept in mind as it means you are in the territory of the antagonists. Even if you yourself do not wish to be antagonistic, so you will have to think of a way to avoid being perceived as a threat or enemy yourself in-character via story.
